Meet our 2 Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl Recipients of Modified/Adapted Vehicles:

Enlisting in 2000, Sgt Carla Best, USA, served in various roles, including vehicle mechanic Team Chief and Air Movement Officer for 1st COSCOM. While riding in a convoy, they were ambushed by multiple IEDs. Carla's vehicle bore the brunt of the explosion, resulting in severe leg injuries and the amputation of her left leg above the knee.

Despite the challenges, Carla's resilience and determination never waned. In her post-military life, she found solace and purpose through para-hockey. Alongside her commitment to her club, Carla is also training diligently for a spot on the women's national sled hockey team, showcasing her unwavering dedication and competitive spirit.

Hiley Subaru is donating a vehicle to Carla that will have mobility adaptations installed by Mobility Works so she can live her life more actively and fully.

After leaving military service as an F-16 Crew Chief in the Air National Guard, Sgt. Josh Meyer, USAF (pictured below), moved to Boulder, CO where he has loved being outdoors with his family especially skiing, hiking, and fly fishing on the many rivers in Colorado.

In January 2024, Josh came down with sepsis after having the flu. He experienced complications from this resulting in his becoming a quadruple amputee.

Josh is receiving a donated vehicle with mobility adaptations to be determined after his assessment and rehabilitation at Walter Reed Medical Center. Josh is at Walter Reed now, so we hope to have a list of the adaptations he will be able to use with his vehicle soon. We also are hoping to assist Josh with some of the cost associated with his need for 4 prosthetics.
